Short Film underway in the Dominican Republic

Michael Everett and Ryan Thompson of Mutually Made and Coner Hagen of Friends of Friends Productions as well as a few others have made their way to the Dominican Republic, where they will spend the coming weeks shooting a short 16mm film. The Calcutta Blog is a virtual magazine with video, pictures, and writing and focuses on both up-and-coming and established musical artists. The Calcutta approaches the interview process from a more personal standpoint, striving to make them fun and entertaining for both the artist and audience.

HOUSLE Official Selection of 2009 Santa Fe Film Festival

Housle, a short award winning film shot in the Czech Republic by filmmakers  Tristan Love and James Longmire will screen as part of the 2009 Santa Fe Film Festival. The film follows the journey of an old man in pursuit of his stolen violin. The chase leads him to a dark forest where he is confronted by a vision his own death. Jiri Kabes of the famed underground Czech rock group Plastic People of the Universe, stars. The film also features performances of the internationally renowned New Mexico based A Hawk and a Hacksaw and boasts a score comprised entirely of their music. See the film here.

A Hawk and a Hacksaw Concert

In conjunction with the Santa Fe Film Festival screening of Housle, A Hawk and a Hacksaw will be appearing in concert as part of an SFFF sponsored event and will be performing with Santa Fe based Balkan ensemble Rusalki. The event will begin at 9pm on Thursday December 3rd at Fusion. Tickets available at the door for $10. 21+ only.

Housle was awarded “Best New Mexico Film” at the 2009 Albuquerque Film Festival and recently aired on PBS/WNET 13 in NYC as part of the program Reel 13.

Housle is a project of Mutually Made, a filmmakers network designed to support artists who are dedicated to making art and film the impassioned pursuit of their lives.
